Walmart Provides Alternative to Both Self-Checkout And Cash Registers

C. Heslop

Do you dislike Walmart's new self-checkout aisles? Do you also hope to skip the lines at the cashier's booth? Walmart has a new payment system to make this possible. What is it?

Few people know about another way to shop at Walmart. Walmart+ members can use the scan-and-go feature on the app. It allows customers to scan items while shopping in-store. Afterward, they use a QR code at self-checkout.

How do you access this option?

  • Be a Walmart+ member.
  • Open your profile and visit the main menu.
  • Tap " Scan, and Go"
  • Scan items as you shop in-store
  • When you get to self-checkout, scan the QR code at the register.
  • You can pay on your phone or register.
  • The QR scan at the register is to ensure you have security clearance to leave the store.

The company is aware people want alternatives to the available payment options. In a statement on the retailer’s website, the company said it is happy to give customers extra options:

"Over the past few years, we have rolled out new Hosted Checkouts in a number of our stores," the company said. Our associates working in the Customer Host role can show customers to available registers, help them through the checkout process and answer any questions they may have.
"This new checkout process is designed to help customers complete their shopping even faster. As customers continue to change the way they shop, we’ll keep looking for new ways to offer choice while saving you time and money."

Walmart+ memberships also have other benefits. These include free shipping, free delivery for orders over $35, discounted gas, and exclusive deals. The service costs $98 per year.

If you donate here, I'll receive a small contribution, thanks.
