Dollar General Registers Will Feature Stickers To Warn Customers About Alleged Overcharging

Claims against Dollar General due to overcharging are at an all-time high. What causes the issue? Inflation and understaffing. The shelf prices do not match the check-out machine ones at many locations. Shoppers have complained about the problem. State mystery buyers have also experienced cost differences.

Despite fines and civil suits, the issue persists at Dollar General locations. Officials will input a measure to warn shoppers that a store may overcharge them. The allegations against the brand are highest in Ohio and North Carolina. Registers in stores with high error rates will bear the red sticker.

The red sticker says:

Franklin County Ohio Divison of Weights and Measures.
Nonsealed Device.
This device is not to be used commercially until it has been tested and approved by the Office of Weights and Measures.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost told Bestlife:

"Everything we buy these days costs more - Ohioans can ill-afford businesses that draw people in with the promise of low prices only to deceive them at the checkout counter. What better way to combat overcharging than with a blatant warning sign for customers? Verify you have been charged correctly."

The inspection agency said the inaccuracy rates were 70%. Officials want to help protect consumers as the alleged practice spreads across the state. Right now, it occurs more in some counties than in others.
