PHOENIX, Ariz. - Tragedy struck at a Phoenix gas station on Wednesday when a murder-suicide left two men dead. According to Phoenix Police, the incident occurred at the gas station located at the intersection of 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found 30-year-old Shane Knoll, an employee of the gas station, who had been shot. In the parking lot, they found another man who had been shot, later identified as 40-year-old Jaime Flores.
Investigators say that Knoll and Flores got into a physical altercation inside the gas station, during which Knoll pulled out a gun. However, Flores managed to get ahold of it again and shot Knoll, who later died from his injuries on the scene.
The two men had some words. [Flores] was asked to leave the store. He did not, and that's when this altercation occurred between the two of them,"
Said Sgt. Phil Krynsky.
Finally, Flores fled to the parking lot, where he took his own life. Flores was transported to the hospital but also died from his injuries. No other injuries were reported.
The motive for the altercation and subsequent shooting is currently unclear, and the investigation is ongoing. However, this incident serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences of gun violence and the importance of finding ways to prevent these tragedies from occurring. Our thoughts go out to the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time.
This is an ongoing investigation. Violence is never the answer.
