Bad news for Tennessee shoppers with multiple retail stores closing down across the state
Multiple store closures are rocking the retail industry in Tennessee as retailers continue to be hit hard in the United States.
Over the last month, several national retailers, including Walmart and Macy's, have announced multiple store closures, with major chains combining to shut more than 800 retail stores in 2023.

Bed Bath & Beyond stores in Tennessee closing in 2023
416 Bed Bath & Beyond-owned stores in the U.S. will close in 2023 due to financial issues. Eight of these are in Tennessee.

- Knoxville: The Centre at Deane Hill
- Madison: 2156 Gallatin Road North
- Jackson: 1081 Vann Drive
- Hermitage: Oakwood Commons
- Bristol: 442 Pinnacle Parkway
- Clarksville: 2829 Wilma Rudolph Blvd
Tuesday Morning stores in Tennessee closing in 2023
The discount home goods company is closing more than half of its stores in the United States, including ten in Tennessee.
- Memphis: Eastgate Center, 5056 Park Ave.
- Germantown: Germantown Plaza Shopping Center, 2031 Exeter Rd., Ste 101 & 102
- Hendersonville: Indian Lake West Shopping Center, 259 Indian Lake Blvd.
- Johnson City: Ken's Plaza, 3122‐A East Oakland
- Kingsport: Kingsport Shopping Center, 1409 East Stone Dr.
- Bartlett: Malco Plaza, 2853 Bartlett Blvd.
- Pigeon Forge: Pigeon River Crossing, 2727 Teaster Lane
- Mt. Juliet: Providence Commons Shopping Center, 655 S. Mt. Juliet Rd.
- Cordova: The Commons at Dexter Lake, 1625 Germantown Parkway, Suite 101
- Franklin: The Maples Shopping Center, 1010 Murfreesboro Rd., Ste 192
There have also been store closures announced by Walmart, Macy's, JC Penney, Party City, and Big Lots though none of the affected stores are in Tennessee.
Clothing company Gap has also advised it would close approximately 350 Gap and Banana Republic stores by the end of 2023. So far, 276 stores have been closed, leaving up to 74 store closures still to be announced.
Bath & Body Work has also stated that 50 of their stores will close this year, though they have yet to advise which locations they are.

Even the giant e-commerce retailer Amazon isn't immune to these physical store closures, announcing that it is closing several Fresh groceries and Go convenience stores.
