The Philadelphia Eagles today mourned the passing of one of their own.

As the team announced on its official website, former Pro Bowl linebacker Frank LeMaster passed away on Thursday at 71 years old.

An Eagle through and through, the Kentucky native spent all nine seasons of his NFL career in Philadelphia.

Fellow Eagles teammate Ron Jaworski was among those to react to the news, honoring the memory of LeMaster.

"Lost a great teammate and better friend in Frank Lemaster. RIP Frank!", he tweeted.

Chris McPherson and Jim Gehman memorialized LeMaster with a thoughtful obituary on the Eagles' official website.

The writers quoted LeMaster offering his thoughts on the Eagles' avid fanbase and devoted culture.

"I just fell in love with the people. After that first year and the fans, I couldn't believe it," LeMaster said.

"The Eagles were only winning two, three, four games in the early 70s, but every game they packed the stadium. They were there."

The Eagles, in fitting fashion, paid tribute to LeMaster's stellar character.

"LeMaster put 110 percent of himself into the Philadelphia Eagles and the Eagles became champions during his illustrious career. He left no doubt that he was a winner, both on the field and off."

May Frank LeMaster rest in peace.
