University Of Alabama Condemns Racist Taunts Towards Black Football Players During Game

The University of Alabama has condemned racist and homophobic taunts hurled at Black players during a game that opposed the Longhorns to the Crimson Tide on Saturday.

“Go back to the projects, f—–s!” someone can be heard yelling from the stands.

The comments were repeated several times in a video that started circulating on social media. Black players from Texas were celebrating their win on the sidelines when the comments were made.

“We are disgusted by reports of vile language and inappropriate behavior Saturday night,” the University of Alabama told the Austin American-Statesman . “To be clear, we condemn this behavior, and it will not be tolerated in our venues. It is not representative of UA or our values. We expect all attendees to act with class and respect toward others.”

“Fans are strongly encouraged to report issues to our security resources on-site,” the statement continued. “Game day and delayed reports are appropriately addressed, and anyone found to be in violation of our rules and expectations will be promptly removed and may be banned from future events.”

The mother of one of the players took to social media to express her concern, adding that she and other parents were spat at and had beer cans thrown at them.

“The fact my son down there and they saying go back to the projects really just saddens my heart that as his mother no matter how old he had to listen to that! Love you Son!” she wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “But the parents went through this all night! Beer cans thrown at us, water bottles, spit! Disgrace.”
