    A suspected cause of death has been announced after Californian post-punk musician Luis Vasquez, also known as The Soft Moon, died last week at 44 years old.

    On Monday, authorities informed The Messenger that "Vasquez was one of three individuals discovered deceased last week in a downtown Los Angeles loft in a suspected fentanyl overdose."

    The Messenger confirmed Vasquez's death via his representatives on Friday. An official cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

    "It is with great sadness that we announce our dear friend, Luis Vasquez, has passed away," a post on his Instagram page shared. "Our hearts and thoughts are with his family, friends extended music family."

    His wife Marion later posted a photo of the two alongside a note to her late husband on his Instagram Monday afternoon.

    "My beautiful husband Luis, the light of my life, has gone," her message began. "I do not have the strength to tell you about the million reasons why I love him. Everything hurts. I came here to thank you for the love and support you are showing us."

    Marion also wanted his fans to know that he adored them. "I love you, through him," she wrote. "We will make sure that his legacy lives on. Because that’s what he wanted."

    According to his website , The Soft Moon was scheduled to perform around Europe in shows and festivals next month.
