CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The House overwhelmingly passed a bill on Friday that would subject public schools and libraries to prosecution for distributing obscene matter to minors.

HB 4654 would subject schools, museums, and public libraries to prosecution for distributing obscene materials to minors.

Under current state law, those entities are shielded from prosecution.

What the bill does is remove that shield.

Following debate on the House floor, the bill passed overwhelmingly on an 85-12 vote.

The bill now goes to the Senate for consideration.
