House Republican Reveals He Got a Text from Marjorie Taylor Greene Saying She Wants to Fundraise off Speakership Drama

An exasperated Rep. Greg Murphy (R-NC) joined Friday’s Rob Schmitt Tonight , where the lawmaker bewailed the state of the Republican-controlled House of Representatives.
Hours earlier, the House passed a $1.2 trillion spending bill put on the floor by Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), who needed lots of help from Democrats. In fact, the legislation passed with more Democratic votes than Republican ones.
Murphy took issue with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who railed against the spending bill and filed a motion to vacate the chair. Under House rules, a single member may file such a motion, which then triggers a vote of the House on whether to remove the speaker, just as Kevin McCarthy was ousted in October.
“Tell us your logic here,” Newsmax host Rob Schmitt said to Murphy, who voted against the spending bill. “Why is Marjorie Taylor Greene wrong?”
“If you step back and look, we are in divided government,” Murphy replied. “And we have some individuals that just don’t seem to get it. You know, I have a great relationship with Marjorie Taylor Greene. Her office is right next to mine. But you know, we can’t get 100% of what we want.”
Murphy went on to say Johnson is “working his butt off” and slammed Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who triggered last year’s removal of McCarthy as speaker.
“This was an asinine thing pushed forth by Matt Gaetz because he had a rift with McCarthy ,” the lawmaker added before revealing he received a text from Greene. “Also, just sadly enough, I just got a text not 30 minutes ago, saying– from Marjorie saying, I’m wanting to raise money on this. Matt Gaetz raised money the whole week or the whole time he was creating chaos. This is not what it’s supposed to be. This is not what adults in the room do.”
