Houston Woman Kidnapped and Stabbed to Death By Boyfriend After Telling Him She Was Pregnant

A Houston woman was allegedly stabbed to death by the man she was dating after she revealed that she was carrying his child.

Houston police are now searching for the man accused of killing a pregnant 25-year-old Cavanna Smith on the same day she showed him an ultrasound. After stabbing her, he then left her body on the side of the road back.

Kwanmaine Travion Boyd, 25, has been charged with capital murder, and there is a warrant out for his arrest. KHOU reports that Boyd stands 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 165 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair.

"He shot her like she was a dog, and I wouldn't even do that to a dog," said Smith's sister, Brittany Wilson, told ABC13. "When you imagine someone would shoot a dog and just leave them like an animal, in the middle of the street," she added that her sister was excited. "He was not happy and said he did not want any more children."

However, Wilson says that her sister felt something terrible could happen when visiting Boyd to collect the money he owed her.

"She said, 'I am going to get my money and if anything happens to me, this is where I am at,' and shared her location," Wilson said.

Later that night, Wilson says that one of their other sisters received a screenshot from Smith's best friend sent from Smith, time-stamped at 6:45 p.m: "I have been kidnapped, I'm in the back of Kwan's truck," read the text. Smith's family immediately called 911.

A positive pregnancy test was found in Boyd's apartment along with a note and an ultrasound picture, the news outlet reports.

Smith was an entrepreneur and was returning to school to get her master's in criminal justice.

"She didn't deserve what happened to her," Smith's mom said. "My main concern is justice will be served. She was a young person and just only began to live her life."
