Controversial Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) reportedly had a bit too much fun at the New York Young Republican Club’s annual gala and “raised eyebrows” as staff at the event refused to bring her more alcohol as they believe she had been “overserved.”

On Friday, CNN’s Melanie Zanona reported on Boebert’s behavior at the event back in December, noting it was part of a pattern of self-sabotage that continues to imperil her reelection bid.

“At the December soiree, which was the New York Young Republican Club’s annual gala, multiple witnesses saw a server tell Boebert they would not bring her any more alcohol, with one witness telling CNN the server told the congresswoman they believed she had been overserved,” wrote Zanona, adding:

Throughout the night, Boebert also kept attempting to snap selfies with Trump, who was sitting at the same table as her. Eventually, Trump’s security detail stepped in and asked Boebert to stop, according to the witnesses, who attended the event and saw the interaction take place.

Boebert’s allies defended the congresswoman to CNN saying, “her boisterous and loud personality can sometimes be misconstrued, especially by people who don’t know her well.”

Boebert switched districts in Colorado after ex-Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) announced his retirement last year, hoping to land in a much safer district after nearly losing reelection in her current district last cycle.

Zanona noted that Boebert’s behavior at the New York event didn’t seem to bother Donald Trump as he still gave her his “full and total” endorsement last month, which has been a boon to her reelection efforts.

Boebert faced a potentially tricky situation in her new district as Buck’s vacancy had forced a special election to take place on the same day as the primary election to see which Republican would be the standard bearer in the district and a shoo-in to win the general. Luckily for Boebert, a GOP panel chose an ally of hers to stand in the special election and serve as a placeholder, while she works to secure the nomination for the general in November.

A Boebert win in the June primary is not guaranteed noted Zanona, writing, “But Boebert still has to prevail in the packed primary in June. Nearly a dozen Republican candidates have jumped into the race, though not all of them may appear on the ballot in June and only half a dozen are considered serious contenders. And sources close to Boebert believe a more crowded field of rivals may actually benefit Boebert by splitting up the rest of the vote.”
